Here’s what the Women’s Center has on the calendar for the month of October:
Welcoming Explorers during LPTS Exploratory Weekend! The Women’s Center will be open for the campus tour, Saturday, 1:00-1:45 p.m. (Established members of the LPTS community are welcome to drop in, too!)
We will be observing National Coming Out Day, October 11, along with More Light on campus, in some way (specific plans to be announced as they develop). The day is a recognition of the importance of openness and affirmation, both for LGBTQ folks and the friends, families, and allies of LGBTQ folks. As we presumably know, grace, kindness, integrity and speaking the truth in love are values good for the whole community.
October 26, Happy Birthday, Hillary! The Women’s Center will participate in a national movement to encourage Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to honor US pledges of support to East Africa. This support was pledged with the intention of putting a stop to the epic violence against women taking place in that war-torn area of the globe. We will celebrate Ms. Clinton’s birthday in the usual way, and will also view the film The Greatest Silence and sign and send encouraging cards to Ms. Clinton on the occasion of her birthday. For more information on the national action, see the Dear Hillary Campaign blog.
And, we have not [quite] given up on the idea of getting a Fall Bible Study off the ground! We encourage interested readers of the Bible to contact the Women’s Center at firstname.lastname@example.org! We are looking at meeting on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 p.m., in the Women’s Center.
